Spam busting
Spam is the electronic version of junk mail.
Some people like some of it, some people hate any of it.
Hints on spam busting:
I recommend a free spam controlling program such as www.mailwasher.com
list only a disposable address on public websites not your real one ( ie reallyme2@bigpond.com ) Keep a spam e-mail address for just such a purpose.
when you send out an e-mail to a group, use the "BCC:" section not the TO: or CC:
when you receive a spam - don't reply to it, don't go to the link that says "remove me", don't visit their website via the e-mail. Doing these things only confirms to the spammer that your e-mail address has someone listening! You can guarantee that you will get an increase of spam now!
Hotmail also has spam controlling tools.
Notes about LDS Link:
LDS Link is not listed with any search engines and doesn't give out e-mail lists to any 3rd parties.
The LDS Link database resists spamming by not listing your e-mail on the website. Search the PHP database to see.
We have never received any spam from having our names listed on LDS Link since the new PHP database has been implemented ( Jan 2002 )
